Ostlänken to be built for 250 km/h

The Swedish Transport Administration have decided that the maximum speed on high-speed railway ”Ostlänken” will be 250 km/h.

Ostlänken is the first leg of a system that will connect Stockholm-Malmö and Stockholm-Gothenburg. The speed for two other passages were decided at the same time and the effects of choosing 250 km/h instead of 320 km/h will add a few minutes to travels between the end stations.

The decision means that the planning of Ostlänken can continue according to the timetable. Details of the station at the Stockholm Skavsta airport is one of the issues that will be raised in meetings between the airport, the municipality and the national agency.
